Find the right used catamaran – with data, facts and the broad knowledge of the communities instead of gut feeling.
Catamaran Radar collects the catamaran listings from 28 portals and dealer websites, calculates for each boat the costs up to readiness for sea and assesses the model and the boat. Describe your plan – our AI asks the right follow-up questions and identifies the models and boats that really suit you and your plan.
Data inventory
What we keep track of
We check the portals daily for new and sold boats. Identical boats listed on several portals are merged, sold boats are hidden. All actively listed boats are analysed fully automatically and with AI. Fully evaluated means: price, equipment, condition and berth are known to the extent that we can calculate the total costs reliably.
Knowledge about the models
Assessed from 2.096 individual sources. Every finding is backed by its source; hearsay without evidence does not count. We do not name sources from forums and owner communities in the reports – we disclose them on request.
Evaluated boats by berth
Total costs of the most common models
Bars: cheapest to most expensive boat, number: median. Total costs = negotiated purchase price, additional costs, delivery, necessary repairs and equipment.
Data as of 2026-11-03. We rate 17 models as "well suited" for long-distance cruising.
Method
How Catamaran Radar works
Behind every report are several assessment axes and comprehensive model knowledge. Your details are analysed and determine which boats suit you. To this end, we create an individually tailored purchase ranking.
Collect listings
Daily from portals, dealer sites and shipyard exchanges. Duplicates are detected and merged.
Calculate costs
Negotiated purchase price, VAT, delivery, necessary repairs and additional equipment – until the boat is ready to sail.
Assess risks
Model weaknesses, recalls, build years, ex-charter, damage and unclear details are checked for each boat.
Select the right ones
Our AI understands your purchase requirements, asks for what is missing and ranks the boats according to what matters to you. In addition, for each boat you receive an individually tailored list of questions as a pre-formulated e-mail to the seller – in German and English.
The assessment axes
Each axis from 0 to 100, evidenced by listing, model knowledge and market data.
The model – Structure and construction · Seaworthiness · Series defects and recalls · Value stability · Ageing
The boat – Price relative to the model level · Readiness to sail · Refit needs · Clarity of details · Risk of the build year
The condition – Equipment · Substance · Propulsion · Layout · Living comfort
Your purchase ranking
From your details – budget, crew and cabins, length, sailing plans, berthing region, VAT, origin and equipment – we select the suitable boats and rank them: first by the suitability of the model for your plans, then by our purchase ranking across all axes. What you do not want, such as a former charter boat, moves down; if a fully equipped boat is important to you, it moves up. This creates a ranking for your plans, not a general best-of list.
Examples
Sample reports
This is what the shortlist and pre-purchase review look like – each for a different buyer profile. The samples are compiled from boats that have since been sold; your report contains the boats offered at the time of your order. We show each boat with up to five photos from its listing; model photos come from the shipyard or from a listing.
Offer

This is how buyers proceed: you clarify which models suit your plan, look at the boats on offer and then thoroughly check the one or two boats that really interest you. That is exactly how our offering is structured. All prices incl. 19% VAT; one-off purchases, no subscription.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does the report replace a survey?
No. We evaluate public listings and our model data. The report tells you which boats are worth pursuing and what the surveyor should look at – it does not replace the viewing and the survey on the boat.
Where does the data come from?
From publicly accessible listings on portals, dealers and shipyards. We link every boat to its original listing.
What role does AI play?
The AI reads your purchase requirement and asks the relevant follow-up questions. Selection, costs and assessment are calculated by our assessment pipeline according to fixed, traceable rules.
What happens to my e-mail address?
We use it only to send you the report and delete your request after 30 days. Your address is not passed to the AI or to third parties. Details in the Privacy policy.
